In the midst of the tumult and furor of this time, it's a relief to know that you can count on a few simple pleasures. Having your favourite beer more readily available is the kind of announcement we all want to hear. And that's what we're doing! After 25 years of farming, brewing and keeping it small on the farm, we have decided to sell to with someone who can help give Crannóg Ales both long-term stability and a wider availability. We are very pleased to announce that Crannóg Ales and BNA Brewing are entering into a long term relationship....

Reflections on the power of conversation

In 800 years of colonization, the Empire used Ireland as a proving ground for techniques of repression and division. Those tools were used all over the Empire.
As the Empire began to crumble, its bureaucrats used political divisions to try to retain control over places where they no longer had military power or direct governance. South Africa, Israel, Ireland - all are victims of this policy, and each of them struggle to overcome this disastrous legacy. Both South Africa and Ireland are now exemplars of how conversation can heal divisions and create unity, healing from war and building local governance.
What we heard, over and over, was the need for conversation. It was only when people began to talk, despite the rage and pain, that peace could be built. It was only when people listened that change could begin.

The news is so bad. War in Ukraine, Sudan, Gaza. The pain and grief and loss are so immense that they are hard to fathom, especially from our safe and comfortable lives in Canada. We see the difference between our lives and those whose homes have been destroyed, whose families are missing or dead entirely, whose entire cities have been pulverized, who have fled with nothing more than the clothes on their backs and have nowhere safe to go.
