It's our 20th Anniversary!

Posted by Rebecca Kneen on

Crannóg Ales opened at the end of January, 2000. It was cold, very cold. But we had a big bonfire, accidentally frozen appetizers, and legal beer!

(We should also add that the photo here is from 2000, with our unmodified equipment and a lot less grey hair!)

For 2020, we have a variety of special events, beers and casks coming your way, and we will of course also be at our favourite beer festivals.

Sedition Series Seasonals

Look for new seasonal ales monthly, released in both keg and growler and available at all our usual outlets. This is the Sedition Series of seasonal ales: look for beers focused on unions (the International Workers of the World, or Wobblies, will be celebrated with the Wobbly Toddler Milk Ale for May Day), The Easter Rising, anti-fascist action, Indigenous land rights, farm labour and more. Ask your local pub to add a rotating tap so you can try them all!

Cask Beers

We'll also be partnering with friends at pubs, restaurants and taprooms around the province to bring you special cask ales throughout the year. Look for us on March 17 at Quaaout Lodge in Squilax for St Patrick's Day, and then March 19 at Row 14 in Cawston for a long table dinner and pairing to start the season. We'll also have a cask at Murderer's Row after the Okanagan Fest of Ales on April 18.

Speakers Series

We are in the early stages of planning a speakers series as well, featuring people who've been vital parts of our lives and work, people who've inspired us and kicked our asses to be better, do better and work harder. This series will cover issues like language and culture, agricultural practice (from seedsaving to permaculture, market gardening to food hubs), solidarity and social change, and much more. Please contact us directly for more information or to be added specifically to our Speaker Series mailing list.

On-Farm Events

And of course, there'll be some bigger events. Look for a punk show in mid summer, with some of your favourite faces and sounds. We'll also have our 100' Feast again, linked with an art show, on August 9. Reserve that date, tickets will be going fast for it!

Festivals

Okanagan Fest of Ales: April 17-18 in Penticton

Roots & Blues Festival: August 13-16 in Salmon Arm

Great Canadian Beer Festival: Sept 11-12 in Victoria

We will be posting a calendar and updating it regularly, so do check back in for more information.

We can't quite believe it's been 20 years. Thank you everyone!
