Newport Hops Plants (bulk)
Available in BULK ONLY (total order must be a multiple of 84).
Alpha 10-12.5% (dual purpose) Bred in 1992 by Oregon State University and released in 1992 through the USDA, Newport is a descendant of the classic bittering variety, Magnum. It offers high alpha acid, co-humulone and myrcene content, offering more distinct aroma characteristics than its parent. Newport is resistant to downy mildew and powdery mildew and has good pickability of medium to large size, loose cones. Specific aroma descriptors include earth, citrus, wine and balsamic.
Available in bulk as overwintered small plants, originally tissue-cultured from disease-free stock. They are NOT certified organic, but follow IPM practices. They are shipped well-rooted and ready for planting, and will require irrigation.
Plants will be ready in April or May for spring planting, from an Ontario nursery. Will require transshipment from Sorrento or pickup from our farm.
