Left Fields sells hops rhizomes only, not hop cones or pelleted hops.

Hops rhizome sales are now closed for 2013. Thank you for your order, and check back with us in 2014!

For those who have already ordered their rhizomes, shipping will begin as soon as we can after the rhizomes have been dug, graded and packaged. As we are in the Interior of British Columbia, this will be at the end of April 2013. All orders will be confirmed and a tracking number issued as soon as the rhizomes are shipped.

In 2013 Left Fields was solely supplied by Canadian organic hops growers. We believe in buying local and supporting our fledgeling hops industry, and we are proud to be representing a very fine group of farmers. We will no longer import non-organic hops from the USA, due to serious quality issues.

Small Scale & Organic Hops Production manual

With the assistance of BC Investment Agriculture, we have created a hops growing manual for small-scale and organic producers. This is a basic manual, including extensive cultivation information as well as tips on how to build and design hops trellising, home dryers, and packaging for market.

Purchase this manual for $12.50, or it is available for download, free, for individual users thanks to generous funding by Investment Agriculture Foundation. It is copyrighted, and reproduction is a violation of copyright. If you would like a hard copy of the manual, or multiple copies, please contact us directly.

Download the Small-Scale & Organic Hops Production Manual. This requires Acrobat Reader 4, a free program which is readily available. The manual can also be found through the COABC website.

Hops Rhizomes

We cannot sell any trademarked varieties or varieties in development at proprietary institutions — no Simcoe, Amarillo, Citra, Sirachi Ace or dwarf hops.

Organic hops come both from our own yards and from other BC growers. Not all growers can provide rhizomes every year, as they renew their own yards first, and production of rhizomes does vary from year to year. This means that availability will also vary. BC hops are dug after US hops, as our latitude means that the snow is often not off our fields when the US hops are being dug. If you require early rhizomes, please feel free to shop directly from Freshops in Oregon. Our hops are dug about a week to two weeks before shipment in April.
