Special Events 2010

RJ Haney Heritage Village & Museum Dinner, July 17

To celebrate Haney Heritage Village's Centennial, we're pairing up with Shuswap Chefs (renowned chef Rob Sengotta mans the menu) to sponsor this feast — for tickets call the Village at 250-832-5243, or email: hpark@sunlite.ca

10th Anniversary Party, July 2010  October 2, 2010

Summer is just too busy for us to enjoy the festival, so we've put it off until October, when harvest is done and we have a chance to really let go. We'll be updating this event soon – but we are anticipating a bang-up party to celebrate 10 years of making award-winning beer! We'll have music by The MccGillicuddies, plenty of local food, and guest beers from some of our favourite other breweries. All outside on our gorgeous farm in early fall.

Midsummer Feast at Left Fields farm (August 15)

Crannóg Ales hosts a Midsummer Feast at the farm and brewery in Sorrento with noted local chef Geoffrey Couper (the Corked Cook, Okanagan Chefs Assoc. Chef of the year 2009). Picture long tables set with silk and fine glassware, outside beneath the cherry trees, surrounded by the gardens from which your dinner came. French meets fresh, in this inspired combination of local food and drink. This exceptional five-course dinner will feature ingredients sourced primarily from the brewery and its farm, as well as other local stars. Each course will be paired with a special edition of one of Crannóg's ales, from appetizer to dessert. Eat local, eat fresh, eat seasonal – and discover the absolute bounty and delicious flavours of the Shuswap at the same time. Get inspired and treat yourself – with a five course meal including all the beers for the price of an average dinner! For more information please email the brewery.

Please contact us to be put on the mailing list. Tickets are available through the brewery and in advance only.

Annual Events

Suds n' Cider, Vernon BC (February)

An evening of beer in Vernon, at the height of the Winter Carnival. This event sells out early, so get your tickets ahead of time!

Okanagan Fest-of-Ales, Penticton BC (April)

This festival is held in April, in Penticton, BC, and is a wonderful celebration of the brewer's art. It, too, is a two day festival, and it holds down the spring end of the festival season. About 30 brewers from the region bring out their favorites — the festival includes local cider as well.

Kaslo Jazz Festival, Kaslo BC (BC Day long weekend, July 30-August 1)

Every August long weekend in Kaslo, BC stunning vistas, great acoustics and superb musicians combine to create the Kaslo Jazz Etc Summer Music Festival. The unique floating stage rests just offshore a little, sandy beach on Kootenay Lake. Music ranges from country to jazz to alternative, including percussion workshops and way too much fun. The most beautiful festival in BC, serving a beer brewed specifically for the festival by us (Sunstroke Ale) and others of our beers.

Feast of Fields Okanagan, August

This is the ultimate foodie event: stroll through an organic farm, glass and napkin in hand, sampling the best of local, sustainable food and drink. The Feast Okanagan started in 2009, following 15 successful years in the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island. It featured 75 of the very best Okanagan wineries, breweries, chefs and farmers for an unparalleled afternoon of eating, drinking, and supporting the activities of FarmFolk/CityFolk – check out the website at http://www.feastoffields.com, for information feast-ok@ffcf.bc.ca. A great event, but due to double booking, Crannóg Ales will not be present this year.

Nico's Nursery Banquet — August 22

A feast in the gardens at Nico's Nurseryland, again featuring Rob Sengotta of Shuswap Chefs and our beer in a lovely seasonal menu. For tickets, contact Nico's at 250-804-2004, or email: nicosnurseryland@hotmail.com

Shuswap Regional Food Network Dinner, September 3

Stay tuned for more on this dinner, a feast of local and wild foods to benefit the Shuswap Regional Food Network. The Network is one of many regional groups which act to protect and enhance local agriculture, wildcrafting, food fishing and hunting. The Network supports sustainable food in many ways, from local policy initiatives to create space for community gardens, educational workshops on gardening and farming, learning from indigenous organizations around the world on how to protect indigenous foodways, and sharing resources around BC and across Canada.

Great Canadian Beer Festival, Victoria BC (September)

Held the weekend after Labour Day in September at the Royal Athletic Park. Tickets are $20 per day in advance only. Order early, this outdoor festival sells out every year. Features cask-conditioned beers from breweries across BC and Washington State, outside in tents. Each brewery brings at least three beers, there is an emphasis on seasonal ales and cask beers, so it's a great place to find one-time-only beers. This is the premier beer festival in Canada, and well worth every effort to attend. Again, due to harvest season and too many events, Crannóg Ales will not be attending this year.

Haney Heritage Village Harvest Celebration — September 19

A diversified collection of local restaurants, brewers and wineries treat you to a culinary experience. It's a nibble and sip event with live music from fine local musicians, and a benefit for the Village — an exceptional local museum. If you've never been to the Village, make sure you attend this event. There's local history, a complete antique firehall, smithy and way more. A local gem which deserves much more attention.
